We designed our Indian buffet to do more than just fill you up. We wanted to show each of our guests the variety of flavors that come out of India. We load our buffet with authentic Indian foods, ranging from appetizers and side dishes to meats, fish, salads, breads and desserts. We take pride in cooking fresh dishes with the highest-quality ingredients which allows us to stand out for having a leading Indian buffet in Calgary. As for the food I can’t complain – not only were the portions quite large, ensuring you had leftovers for the next day if you so desired, the dishes our group ordered were tasty & in my opinion very original, refreshing & unique! For appy’s the group picked the Beef & Veg samosas and they weren’t too spicy!! Just the two appy’s were a perfect size for the three of us to share. The price for the two was no more than $4.95.

For the main dish we ordered as a group, one meat dish was the butter chicken @ $14.95 and the other was beef vindaloo @ $14.95. Plus 2 orders of rice at $4.95 each and Naan, this was enough for the whole group. As for dessert… no one had any because we were all stuffed! We were very impressed with the dessert menu because for the size of restaurant they had (which is quite cozy), they had at NUMBER options you could choose from. Overall, Clay Oven had good food & we were able to stay under a reasonable budget even when buying drinks – it was about $25/per person including drinks. That’s pretty good in my books, not bad at all. It was a good experience. Check it out and decide for yourselves.

We are a family that absolutely loves Indian food, and as such we try many different places. Clay Oven, recommended by friends of ours who were missionaries in Indian all their lives, is one of the very best we have come across yet. Like any place we find that ordering off the menu is better than buffet and this is true of Clay Oven too. There are items on the menu that never seem to come up on the buffet; Bhindi Tori, the Biryani’s, etc.

But, that being said, Clay Ovens lunch buffet is still awesome. These guys make the best Butter Chicken I have ever had. In fact it’s so good it has spoiled my kids on the Butter Chicken at most other places. The owners are the cooks, and they are very nice people. On one visit with my wife’s sister and husband and kids they took our kids back into the kitchen and showed them the clay oven the use to do much of their cooking. The 5 rating is given because these guys deserve it. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant in Calgary this little “hole in the wall” restaurant (meaning a non box, non franchise place) as I like to call them, is fantastic. Highly recommend it! We will definitely be back for the butter chicken and more! The food was the best Indian cuisine I have ever tasted. We ordered the butter chicken, tandoori chicken with vegetables, saag paneer, naan bread, and vegetable samosas. All of it was delicious and filling. It was fresh tasting and not at all too heavy or greasy like some Indian restaurants. The price was quite reasonable for the amount of food that we ordered too.

The service was very good as well. The waitress was polite and efficient. The restaurant itself, though nothing special in its decor, was welcoming and comfortable as well. The bathrooms were modern and clean Their mango lassis: sweet and slightly tart. The fish pakoras (basa), crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. Their lamb curry and butter chicken made me want to lick the plate. The tandoori prawns arrived on a bed of vegetables that were a wee bit scorched, but the flavours came through nonetheless. A delicious meal, served with family friendliness. Would I go back? Definitely!

I’ve been dining at the Clay Oven restaurant in Calgary for at least 12 years and have never been disappointed. Because I work in NE Calgary, it’s a very convenient place for lunch. I usually go around 1 pm to ensure a table. The lunch buffet is delicious. The butter chicken and the naan bread are the best I’ve ever had. Our eldest son, who lives in Edmonton now, is begging us to bring him take out. We dined there yesterday and my wife raved about the rice pudding for dessert.

Best indian food I’ve had in Calgary and service was excellent! The meal we ordered was full of flavour and piping hot. Butter chicken melted in my mouth. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazingly delicious East Indian Food. The spice levels we asked for were very accurate (which is something very important to me). Decent service. They were very busy even for a Tuesday night. The location in a shabby strip mall is sad looking on the outside, but inside was nicely decorated and clean.
